According to CD Projekt Red, this latest patch features the following fixes:
Added performance and stability improvements.Optimized performance to improve framerates for RTX GPUs.Fixed sporadic crashes on PS4 and Xbox One/S.Fixed crashing problems.Addressed issues related to FPS drop.Addressed texture related issues.Fixed game loading issues.Added performance fixes.Other under the hood fixes.
As you can see, these patch notes don’t include many references to specific bugs that may have already been addressed. While it’s likely that future patch notes won’t be quite this vague, it seems that this early update is kind of a grab bag designed to target some of the game’s overarching technical problems. However, the two things that stand out about this patch are the fixes related to the game’s framerate and the fixes designed to target crashes (especially on consoles). As we talked about in our look at the game’s best graphics settings on PC, even players with high-end GPUs have struggled to get Cyberpunk 2077 to run at consistently high frame rates. This update should hopefully stabilize the game’s FPS a bit even if it’s clear that there’s a ton of work left to be done in that area. It’s certainly hard to excuse the state that Cyberpunk 2077 launched in (especially on certain platforms), but if there’s any silver lining, it’s that CD Projekt Red has historically been pretty efficient in terms of post-launch updates. It’s likely going to be until sometime in mid-2021 before we see these updates significantly improve the game’s performance across the board, but at the moment, the best we can hope for is that these patches keep coming and released regularly during the foreseeable future.
